Former American Kitefliers Association President Susan Skinner took home the award for Smallest Kite with her Handmade Diamond, a 2-inch long traditional diamond kite. ![]()
The Red Line literally stopped traffic on Marina Boulevard when its 670-foot long tail (supported by a 20-foot wide inflated flowform) stretched across the sky, extending the length of the Marina Green and then some. The Red Line was neck and neck for the longest tail title. Not to worry, with its additional extensions zipped in, The Red Line's tail can extend up to a quarter of a mile. ![]()

BEST GROUND DISPLAY: David Sabilino, Sr. David Sabilino, Sr., presented My Menagerie, an artistic assortment of feather banners and Wayne Knott kites.
Marilyn tantalized the crowd with her billowing skirt that revealed lace panties and was appropriately crowned Most Beautiful. Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend is the official name for this 10-foot wide, three-stick "diamond" kite. ![]()
Not only was The Red Line a traffic-stopper, but it was a show-stopper as well, taking home the well-deserved title for Best of Show. |
